Happiness

The word itself makes one cheerful.. but what is the real definition of 'happiness'?? For each person the its different... For a child its when he/she gets favorite toy and when its playtime or anything that is amusing...hence they have wide range of happiness. As we grow this range narrows down gradually.. For many people the feeling of happiness is materialistic. And according to me this materialistic happiness is short lived. The other day I got some shopping done and I was very happy with what I had bought for myself and after 2-3 days the stuff had taken its position in my wardrobe and I never bothered to look at it.
The real happiness comes from within. Now I know how to get 'real' happiness..Its when I do something special to someone else. It may not be special to the other person and can be as simple as helping an elderly person cross a road, or give a very nice gift which the other person loves. There are small day to day things which we do and unknowingly become happy; I am now content and don't feel the need of buying expensive stuff just to make me feel happy. But yeah shopping once a while is kinda stress buster...what say ;)

  1. Have to completely agree with your thoughts ... Materials lose their value with time; that is the same thing with materialistic pleasure ... ephemeral ... it is gone even before you realize it. Happiness of the spirit is what we may consider as eternal ...
