Cinemascope!

Recently I watched a Hindi movie "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara". It has come from the Akhtar clan, hence I had gone to the theater with a perspective of the movie being 'something different'. I would not go and write a review from critics point of view but I would surely like to make some comments and put my view about this whole 'larger than life, youthful' genre of movies.
While name of the movie itself suggested that it would be about life's precious moments to be cherished and not be a part of the rat race which doesn't leave a person to think about anything apart from money, job, tensions etc; we must not forget one thing that even after watching such movies that make you think about your own life full of struggle and stress, you wouldn't change it for nothing!
As the movie progressed it reminded me of 'Dil Chahta Hai'. The theme was quiet similar(I know people would like to beg to differ). Take three childhood/school/college buddies, create tension between two of them (which will be definitely sorted out at the end) and the third one will be mediator, love angle, exotic place, some adventures and TaDa!! movie ready!!
If someone had to ask me why I liked the movie, I would say 'Spain'. Its really beautiful. Most of the time I was just looking at the scenic views and not the actors!
Now talking about the movie theme and its practicality. They show in the movies that there are best buddies and they go places, have fun, enjoy the life to the fullest. After watching movie people regret not doing the stuff those actors did onscreen, how they wish their life was that simple and perfect, no worries, lot of money for vacation and perfect lover!! Whoaa....but dude lifes not all that perfect. Even if you have buddies who are best in the world, you cant get away from the rat race and the day to day tensions which you have to have in order to live. When in school tension about exams, then college admissions, job, marriage, kids....and its on going, so on and so forth!!
Yes but in between these tensions one can always take a small break and get rejuvenated. You ask me how? Okay so I have this list of course not tried and tested, but indeed quiet a practical one:

  • Sleep to the fullest. One friend of mine once said 'Sleep is heaven'! and yeah go to sleep while listening to your favorite music so that your sleep is really blissful and sans any tension of tomorrow
  • Talk to your best buddy for hours(on phone if meeting personally is not possible) updating about everything that has happened even trivial things and then talk about the funny moments you both shared
  • Go for a walk alone or with your loved one, observe nature, listen to birds if they are chirping and follow some insect on sidewalk (not a dangerous one) and think if you crush it, its gone but then it doesn't have that tension else it wouldn't have been there right? ( Thankfully we don't have that kind of harm from any other specie but ours)
  • If you have a pet play with it, probably its longing for your attention.
  • Get spa treatment, get rejuvenated!
  • Indulge in your favorite sweet dish or your favorite cuisine (Just forget about calories for a day)
  • Watch your favorite movie again at home with popcorn, coke, pizza, along with your loved one(s)
  • If possible spend a night under open sky (make sure there are no insects in the lawn) fall asleep watching stars and moon
  • Learn to play an instrument and then play it for yourself make a video and upload :)
So people enjoy your life the way you can without going on expensive vacations or spending a fortune. Obviously if you have that much money then go ahead and do whatever.
My point is be happy with what you have, to enjoy the life and live each moment to the fullest you don't have to spend $$$$$.
Cheers!!!

An Experience...

It was something I never imagined I would do...yet, there I was sitting in a studio, waiting anxiously to cheer Stephen T. Colbert (Pronounced as "Kobear"), see him perform live in front of me...:)
I always disliked him because I found him arrogant and narcissist in his show. Little did I know it was his character and he was completely different in person..
Ticket
We left from home at around 2:20pm, it was very windy and chilly that day. At 4:15pm we spotted the studio from a little far (come on!! no one would miss
the big board of "The Colbert Report").I could see a man standing with a note pad in his hand in front of the studio entrance. There was no one else around him and so I was a bit happy to assume that we were the first ones to arrive, but as soon as I looked into the narrow passage next to the studio, I saw a long line and then the short feeling of happiness just got erased. After checking in the names we went to stand in the line. People in the line were very young and seemed enthusiastic. Slowly the crowd started increasing and there I could see people from different walks of life. An old gentleman, a veteran, a lady with broken leg,but all very excited about being there. Soon we were handed a laminated ticket and then slowly the line started to move ahead.
We were made to pass through the security check and were then lead to a waiting room. I got some clicks here next to the cut out of Stephen. On a LCD TV The Colbert Report was being played and some people were having a hearty laugh. Slowly more than 100 people were stuffed into the  small room and there was lot of noise...people laughing, chatting, joking..and what not.
After some time one of the interns turned off the TV. She  told us that at that very moment Stephen was rehearsing up in his room and that he is eagerly waiting to hear us cheer him and there was a loud shout out :)
We were told about the guidelines and how to conduct once the show starts.
According to the ticket number people were let into the studio. After 3 hrs standing in the line we finally got to sit! Luckily we were seated in the second row right in front of Stephen's desk.
Then a stand up comedian ( I do not remember his name) came up for a warm up session. It was nice to laugh on the jokes which were on the audience itself :D.We all were told that Stephen feeds on our energy and enthusiasm so we need to rock it there.
After around 10 minutes he announced the entry of Stephen and I was wondering from where would he come coz there were 2-3 entrances to the studio!
The crowd went mad shouting and cheering and clapping and chanting "Stephen" loudly!! It was amazing!!
We then had Q & A round with Stephen (out of character) and he answered the questions wittily and skilfully.
It was time to begin the show, he went to his seat and his make up artist came to do touch up and while she was at it he playfully  touched up on her hair ( he was sooo cute). He removed the orange wrist band to wear and at that  time a   girl in the audience screamed loudly! For a minute I didnt know what was happening!!  Then he started throwing some bands at the audience. And people were jumping to catch. One disadvantage of being near the stage is that you never get the goodies that are thrown coz they are thrown to the audience sitting far! Once the show began, audience started to crack up. There was loud laughter at his sarcastic, witty and funny liners (some of which I didn't understand)
In the middle of the show he goofed up and laughed (while talking about the F15 fighter jets). He told the audience not to blog or tweet about it (yeah right!)
Rest of the show was just great and after the taping he thanked the audience and left.
It was truly a wonderful experience and I was really charmed by Stephen. As we exited people were clicking pictures with Stephen's cut out. We thought of waiting outside in case we got lucky enough to catch Stephen while leaving the studio but it was too windy and cold also we were hungry so gave up that thought :( Hope to get a chance again after six months! Never imagined that I would become fan-girl of Stephen T.Colbert D.F.A.!!!

A little too late!

The second month of 2011 is almost over and I have not been able to publish anything new here! Actually, I have left 4 posts incomplete. I started writing about one topic and could not go ahead so I left it midway then one fine day I started writing another post, again couldn't complete that too :( ...similarly I accumulated 2 more incomplete posts !
This is what happens when there is no time-line and no pressure.
Side effects of not having a boss!
Sometime back I used to work for a company and it was pretty hectic. Once I worked for 22 days continuously...no Sunday, no holiday and every day right from morning 8:30 to evening 10 or mid night or sometimes even later.
On normal days I ensured that I complete important work before leaving office.
Now that there is no one to question me about my posts and stuff, I can do that when ever I want ! Not a good indicator right!! hmmm So why not I become my own boss and ensure that my tasks are completed or at least brought to some sort of acceptable completion :)
Okay so done...wish me luck people! I hope I am able to be a strict boss and also hope that I am able to complete my tasks on time and keep my boss happy :))
